On Sunday, December 27th, 2009, Uzbekistan will hold its second elections for its bicameral national parliament - Ojli Majlis. On the same day, the country will also conduct local elections for municipality assemblies.
At the end of September, Academy for State and Social Construction under the President of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with OSCE, NDI and Regional Dialogue, organized an international round table on political rights. The round table, entitled "Political Parties and Elections: International Practice and Legislation of Uzbekistan", offered Uzbek experts and officials from different parties to discuss political rights and practices with international participants from United States, Holland, United Kingdom, Finland, Ireland, Slovenia, India, Ukraine, Russia, Pakistan and Japan.

In June 2009, Regional Dialogue engaged as co-organizer of international seminar devoted to review of judiciary reforms and the steps that need to be taken next. Participating officials and representatives of academia and civil society discussed ongoing work and exchanged experiences of best practices with experts from other countries.
Following the seminar, special round tables for additional discussions were organized with training centers of Ministry of Justice, General Prosecutor’s Office and with experts at the Institute of monitoring active legislative under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
